Manikarnika: Ewam Choden is happy to refer you to the following upcoming event. A TALK by Her Eminence DAGYUM CHENMO KUSHO SAKYA on Meditation in Daily Life WHEN: Saturday, October 28, 2017 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM WHERE: Sofia University Auditorium, 1069 E Meadow Circle, Palo Alto, CA 94303 Free of charge, but you are requested to RSVP--Click here. Dagmola (Jamyang) Sakya was perhaps the first Tibetan woman ever to immigrate to America. Her full title reads Her Eminence Dag-Yum Kusho Sakya, which denotes her high-ranking status as the wife of one of the most eminent masters in the Sakya tradition, His Holiness Jigdal Dagchen Sakya Rinpoche. She is one of the very few senior Tibetan ladies who were born in pre-Communist Tibet, but are now recognized as outstanding teachers and live in America. A combination of the most unlikely circumstances enabled Dagmola to become one of the first Tibetan women to teach in the West. Born 1936 in a tiny village in East Tibet, she was the only girl allowed to go to school. Instead of complying with the established system of arranged marriages, Dagchen Rinpoche fought for her hand. After escaping from Tibet with her family, she made a new home in Seattle with her five boys, while holding down a nine-to-five job at a blood bank. She also quietly devoted herself inwardly to spiritual practice under the guidance of her revered uncle, H.E. Dezhung Rinpoche. H.E. Dezhung Rinpoche encouraged her to begin teaching Buddhism and granting empowerments. Thus, Dagmola is authorized to accept the role of Lama by one of the foremost Tibetan Buddhist masters of the Sakya Order and by other esteemed Tibetan Lamas. Dagmola regularly bestows empowerments and teaches at Sakya Monastery in Seattle, WA. She has founded the Mother Tara Center/Tara Ling in San Gabriel, California and established centers in Kona, Hawaii; Flagstaff, Arizona; and Mexico City. Her story is written in her book, Princess in the Land of Snows. Her experience as a working mother of five resonates with many students. When students ask her for advice on how to combine a spiritual path with the stress of modern life, she does not need to put herself in their shoes - she knows the challenges only too well. "Practice is in every day life, not just sitting on the cushion," Dagmola says. "Every move, every breath, every thought is practice.” Dagmola will use her life experience to talk about meditation in general and specifically: • How to maintain a meditation practices with such a busy life • Benefits from her practices in daily life • Meditation in daily life • Guidance in some meditation techniques NOTE: For further information about this event, please contact Jessica: huai@yahoo.com, 408-476-0455

Manikarnika: Kagyu Changchub Chuling · 4936 NE Skidmore St · Portland, OR 97218 · USA ... Venerable Khenpo Rinpoche to Lead Opening of Three-Year Retreat and Offer Teachings at KCC June 8—10: Teachings at KCC June 16: Opening of Three-Year Retreat at SCOL Venerable Khenpo Lodro Donyo RinpocheIn gratitude, KCC is pleased to announce that on June 16, Venerable Khenpo Rinpoche will be with us to lead the Gate Opening Ceremony for our Three-Year retreatants. Rinpoche will also offer teachings in Portland on the weekend of June 8—10. We will provide more details soon. But for now, it is enough to recognize the extraordinary nature of Rinpoche’s decision to be with us on this historic occasion for KCC. What follows are Lama Michael’s thoughts on this great fortune. .... By Lama Michael Conklin As many of you know, Venerable Khenpo Rinpoche visited Portland and SCOL just last June. In February, we invited him to join and preside over the ceremonies ending the Three-Year Retreat. At first, Rinpoche responded that he would be engaged in a retreat and could not come. Very recently, Lama Eric Triebelhorn told us that Rinpoche had changed his mind. The completion of this first Three-Year Retreat at SCOL, using English translations, conducted and attended by Westerners, is so important to the vitality of the Dharma that he would find a way to be here with us at the Opening Ceremony. Let us take a moment to appreciate the significance of this. Khenpo Rinpoche, truly a jewel of the Dharma and our lineage, feels that this event is so important that he must cancel other commitments in order to come 5,000 miles to be here with us. For me, it will be as if Bokar Rinpoche himself had somehow managed to come to see the first ripened fruit on the tree of his aspiration to create SCOL. Khenpo Rinpoche’s presence will speak volumes of the value he places on this endeavor. His words will increase our understanding of the purpose and the benefits of such long retreats, not only for the individual participants but for their families, the Sangha and the community beyond. Many people at the Opening will not have encountered a Three-Year Retreat before. They will come with open hearts and open minds. If teachings are given, they will be ready to listen. Over time, by seeing the ceremony and hearing Rinpoche's words, some individuals may be moved to consider undertaking a Three-Year Retreat themselves. Others may wish to give their support to future retreats. At the very least, those attending the opening will have a unique experience that will positively affect their entire lives. As for the retreatants, to meet with Rinpoche and have his blessing will be so memorable. He will also meet with them the day before the opening. It may sound like hyperbole, but many of us have witnessed this kind of direct connection and transmission. In so many ways we cannot now count, Rinpoche’s attendance will benefit the opening of the retreat, the community of KCC, and the future of both SCOL, the urban center, and indeed all beings.

Suraj: Gyalshen Institute (CA) Summer Retreat 2018 The 21 Nails from the Zhang Zhung Nyen Gyu July 24-29 2018 We at Gyalshen Institute cordially invite you to our summer 2018 residential silent retreat. There Chaphur Rinpoche will give teachings and instructions on “The 21 Nails” from the Zhang Zhung Nyen Gyu. Teaching Topic The 21 Nails is one of the innermost secret teachings from the Bön Zhang Zhung Nyen Gyu, the 21 essential points of Dzogchen practice, directly cutting through doubts about one’s natural state by tracing the nature of mind back to its source. The teachings of the Twenty-One Nails are a direct expression of enlightenment—our natural mind. Each nail describes this natural state from a different point of view. The views are called “nails” or “seals” because they stabilize the experiential understanding of the natural state. These teachings are said to have come directly from the primordial buddha, Küntu Zangpo, passed by mind-to-mind transmission to eight successive buddhas, and then transmitted orally to 24 human Bön lineage holders, all of whom were yogis and siddhas. It was first written down by Yangton Sherap Gyaltsen in the 11th century. These teachings have been transmitted in an unbroken succession down to our teachers of the present day. Silent Retreat 2017 was Gyalshen Institute’s first residential summer retreat, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. When asked about next year (2018) Rinpoche immediately chose the 21 Nails as his teaching topic, and was very enthusiastic about conducting this retreat in silence. Silence is especially important when one is trying to catch the nature of mind. “When the outer sounds are silenced, it is much easier to hear the unceasing sound of the mind’s nature.” Rinpoche will also give the transmission for the entire Zhang Zhung Nyen Gyu. The Zhang Zhung Nyen Gyu contains the 21 nails and is considered one of the most important and the most comprehensive manual for Dzogchen practice in the Bön tradition. This retreat will be conducted according to Bön tradition. We will give the 4 offerings daily (Sang Chöd, Chotor / water offering, burnt food offering and Chöd). We will also practice tsa lung / trul khor in the mornings and tögel in the early evening. Please see the sample schedule below for more details. Location Please plan to join us for the second annual Gyalshen Residential Summer Retreat. Take this opportunity to dive deeply into the Bön spiritual tradition while enjoying the profound sense of community possible in a residential five day retreat. Manikarnika:

Manikarnika: SUMMER TEACHINGS Ganges Mahamudra Pith Instructions & Chakrasamvara Commentary, Instruction, Empowerment and Retreat by H.E. Garchen Rinpoche and Venerable Drupon Rinchen Dorje June 30 – July 8 Registration Opens June1 This summer, dharma blessings will shower down like rain! Summer Teachings will include pith instruction on the incomparable Ganges Mahamudra, followed by commentary, teaching, empowerment and practice retreat of the profound Chakrasamvara deity practice. June 30 – July 1: H.E. Garchen Rinpoche will offer pith instruction on the Ganges Mahamudra – Tilopa’s radiant instruction to Naropa on how to rest in the pure and luminous state of our natural mind. July 2 – July 4: H.E. Garchen Rinpoche and Ven. Drupon Rinchen Dorje will offer profound commentary and teaching on the Chakrasamvara practice, culminating with Chakrasamvara empowerment in the afternoon session of July 4. July 5 – July 8: Garchen Rinpoche and Ven. Drupon Rinchen Dorje will lead a Chakrasamvara Retreat. Chakrasamvara is highest yoga tantra practice in the Vajrayana Buddhist tradition. In the Drigung Kagyu lineage, the most popular and common Chakrasamvara deity practice is in the form of the Five-deity Chakrasamvara. The Five-deity Chakrasamvara includes the central deity of the two-armed, single-faced male Chakrasamvara deity in union with the female Vajravarahi deity (these two in union are taken as a single deity) and four surrounding dakinis in the four directions. Ven. Drupon Rinchen Dorje has said that “…the particular unsurpassed union tantra of Chakrasamavara, the king of tantras [is] equal to space. The teacher Vajradhara rose up in the form of the fierce compassionate emanation Chakrasamvara and taught this tantra. The power of the blessings of this tantra is said to be more exalted than others. Most of the mahasiddhas of India were renowned to have attained the supreme and common accomplishments through the gateway of Chakrasamvara. In Tibet Lord Marpa taught: The tantra of Hevajra is renowned as profound. Chakrasamvara is known as the quintessence. …. Thus, this deity has been the practice of the oceans of Kagyü siddhas. It is the secret path that has been relied upon by the hundred of siddhas of India and Tibet. It is the swift path for those with faith, diligence, and wisdom. It is the heart nectar of the Buddha’s teachings.” Chakrasamvara requires empowerment prior to participation in the practice. Finally, as a special treat for these Summer Teachings, we will offer Daily Yoga Practice with Joyanna Maria Ananda. As a student, practitioner and guide of Qigong and Yoga for most of her adult life, she has been blessed to have studied with Master Teachers in China, Tibet and India. Inspired in the natural blend of these eastern sciences, her classes are unique and spontaneous, joyfully creative and alive. We are so fortunate to have Joyanna lead daily classes, an excellent way to prepare our bodies and channels for the deepening practices offered during our Summer Teachings at the Garchen Buddhist Institute. https://garchen.net/annual-events/#summerteaching CHAKRASAMVARA MONTH LONG RETREAT Led by the Venerable Drupon Rinchen Dorje July 9 – August 5 Immediately following our Summer Teachings, where instruction, empowerment and practice retreat of the Five-deity Chakrasamvara will be given, we offer an opportunity to go deep into this profound deity yoga practice under the guidance of Venerable Drupon Rinchen Dorje. Six participants will live in the retreat village and practice three sessions a day in their own hut, and one group session in the village temple. This is an excellent opportunity to learn how to properly do a deity retreat, and all the rituals involved. This retreat is a prerequisite for the three year retreat program. Yidam practice is a very special tantric practice in which one transforms one’s normal, samsaric experience of reality into an extraordinary experience of the true state of all phenomena. While the teachings of the sutra-level consider ignorance as the root cause of samsaric existence, the tantric teachings identify the ordinary appearances as the root cause of samsara. The practice of Yidam is a special and profound method to quickly transform ordinary appearances into enlightened appearances. To be more accurate, this practice uncovers the actual state of appearances and reveal them to be pure and empty unceasingly. Yidam practice does not make ordinary appearances into something they are not — pure and empty of inherent existence. Rather, it uncovers the purity and emptiness that have always been there but obscured and unseen. Due to the special nature of these teachings, it is best that one receive the details of these teachings directly from an authentic teacher of the lineage. Thus, this opportunity to practice in a small group, under the guidance of Venerable Drupon Rinchen Dorje, is rare and precious indeed. The retreat village is drenched in blessings. At its center is the village temple, as well as a common kitchen building, shower/toilet, and laundry. Cost: $1000 If you are interested in attending this special retreat, please email for an application to questions@garchen.net

Dzogchen, translated as “The Great Perfection,” is the ultimate teaching of all of the enlightened ones and is regarded as the culmination of all spiritual paths. In Dzogchen we are introduced the primordially pure state of enlightenment and are shown how to abide in that pristine essence that has been our actual ever-present condition from the very beginning. This particular text of Longchenpa's is a discourse on the four unique discipline-less disciplines (samayas) of Dzogchen ― ineffability (transcending), openness, spontaneous presence, and oneness. Venerable Lama Rinchen was born in Tibet and is a scholar and meditation master in the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. For many years was the personal attendant to His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche, former supreme head of the Nyingma lineage. Suraj: Lecture Series With Prof. Dr. Harunaga Isaacson: The Bhramahara (‘Remover Of Error’) By Ratnākaraśānti. https://www.tantrictraditions.com/news/ In an intensive series of lectures beginning on Wednesday, August 22 and continuing through Tuesday, August 28, Professor Dr. Harunaga Isaacson will translate and explain the whole of the Bhramahara, a profound and comprehensive Sādhana of Hevajra that has reached us in its original Sanskrit. Its eleventh-century author Ratnākaraśānti [Rinchen 'byung gnas zhiba] is arguably the most brilliant and insightful of all the Indian masters of Tantric Buddhism of whom we have surviving works; and he is all the more remarkable since his contributions were not limited to the Tantric domain. He also produced major works in the general Mahāyānist domains of Yogācāra and Prajñāpāramitā; and he has much to say on the crucial issue of how the relationship between the Tantric and non-Tantric, between the Way of Mantras and the Way of the Sūtras, should be understood. The schedule of talks is as follows: Wednesday, August 22 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday, August 23 6:00 to 8:00 pm Saturday, August 25 10:00 am to 12:00 pm 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm Sunday, August 26 10:00 am to 12:00 pm 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm Monday, August 27 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday, August 28 6:00 to 8:00 pm On Friday, August 24, there will be a lecture by Professor Alexis Sanderson, Academic Director of ISTS, on a topic to be announced. REGISTER NOW: $350 General Sessions will be held at the Movement Center, 1021 NE 33rd Ave Portland, OR. Accommodations are available at The Movement Center by reservation. The retreat will begin with the Nyingtig Yabzhi empowerments, along with some of the oral transmission, and beginning with an explanation of Semnyi Ngalso. The intention for these teachings is to emphasize the actual instructions and commentaries on the Nyingtig Yabzhi. One of these explanations (tri yig) will be the extremely rare teaching of the"Stainless Oral Instructions" (Drimey Shalung) by Jamgon Kongtrul which Tulku Sang-ngag received directly from Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche. The heart of the exceedingly short path of the 6.4 million verses of the Dzogchen Tantras, and the quintessence of the seventeen tantras, is the Pith Instruction Class of Luminosity Great Perfection. In Tibet, the progenitors of this great chariot were Vimalamitra and Padmasambhava. These teachings were passed by Vima to Nyang Tingzin Zangpo, beginning a lineage of practitioners who attained rainbow body. Subsequently and in secret these teachings were passed to Lodro Wangchuk, Drom Rinchenbar, Neten Dangma Lhungyal, Chetsun Senge Wangchuk and others, establishing the lineage known as Vima Nyingtig. The Master Padmasambhava imparted these teachings to Dakini Yeshe Tsogyal and other wisdom dakinis. They were then passed successively to Pema Ledretsel, establishing the transmission of the Khandro Nyingtig. These two cycles make up the two Mother Heart Essence Teachings (nyingtig ma nyi). The entirety of these two streams of teachings fell to the omniscient Dharma King Longchen Rabjam who combined them together. His commentary on the Vima Nyingtig is known as Lama Yangtig, and his single summation of the quintessential meaning of the Khandro Nyingtig is known as the Khandro Yangtig. These four—Vima Nyingtig, Khandro Nyingtig, Lama Yangtig, and Khandro Yangtig—are known either as the Four Mother and Child Nyingtig or the Nyingtig Yabshi (Four-fold Nyingtig). Longchenpa’s encapsulation of the profound key points of pith instructions of both mother and child cycles is known as the Zabmo Yangtig. The entryway into this class of secret pith instructions consists of the stages of empowerment, which ripen the mind, and receiving the liberating instructions. The supportive teachings for these texts are the extensive Pandita Cycle, the Seven Treasuries, both profound and extensive teachings that show a complete and unmistaken path, a great chariot of the definitive meaning. Additional supportive texts include the Three Cycles of Relaxation, Three Cycles of Natural Liberation, Three Cycles of Dispelling Darkness, and others. The confluence of the streams of the short and long lineages of these teachings was held by the supreme refuge, the lord of the mandala, Dilgo Khyentse Vajradhara. For more than a decade, while serving at the lotus feet of this sublime being, our own incomparable guide, the magical wisdom manifestation of the glorious Gyalwa Choyang, one of the nine heart sons of the Guru Rinpoche, the sixth emanation of Drime Lingpa, supreme Gochen Tulku, Namchak Sang-ngag Tenzin Rinpoche, received these teachings. He received them not just once, but again and again. He also received the pith instructions of Dzogchen from the great disciple of Khenchen Ngagi Wangpo––Pema Ledretsel– –Urgyen Chemchok, a supreme emanation who achieved rainbow body. For nine years Tulku Sang-ngag relied upon this master, taking him as his refuge and lord of the enlightened family. These teachings included the entirety of the whispered lineage of pith instructions of the Luminosity Secret Essence (osel sangwa nyingtig), which he was taught and contemplated deeply. When the time came, in accord with prophecy, Tulku Sang-ngag Rinpoche began to spread these teaching in America, the land of the west. For almost twenty years Tulku Sang-ngag has taught at his main seat, Ewam Montana’s Sang-ngag Ling, The Garden of 1000 Buddhas; and in Ewam Santa Fe, at Pema Khandro Ling, and Longchen Ritro. He has turned vastly the wheel of the ripening and liberating teachings of the Pith Instruction Class of Great Perfection. He imparts these teachings to fortunate students who have already trained their minds well through the preliminary practices (ngondro). We are extremely fortunate and grateful that he teaches and continues to teach. In accord with the requests made by a number of western students in America who are striving in spiritual practice, this spiritual protector graciously accepted to begin offering, in particular, the reading transmissions and empowerments of the above mentioned lineage of Dzogchen Nyingtig, and the stream of transmission of supporting teachings including the Three Cycles of Relaxation, Three Cycles of Natural Liberation, the Seven Treasuries of Longchenpa, and the extremely rare lineage of the summation of key points of the pith instructions of the Nyingtig Yabshi, a commentary on the Mother and Child Nyingtig called Stainless Guidance (Drime Shelung). This year the teachings will be imparted in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on November 2-11, 2018. This message was prepared by the Ewam Pema Khandro Ling Nyingtig Yabshi Organizing Committee on April 14, 2018.

Tina and Stephen provided this information about the retreat: “In concentration and serenity (samatha) meditation, we return our awareness to one object of meditation to the exclusion of everything else, thereby collecting and unifying the mind stream. Samatha meditation “builds the muscle” of concentration, enabling us to turn away from the pull of our busy mind—and our electronics—and settle into the serenity of our deeper nature. The practice also reveals with heightened clarity our habitual patterns that cause us to suffer on and off the cushion. As we turn away from these patterns, laser-like awareness can develop into profound stillness, deep joy, and the possibility of meditative absorptions known as jhanas. The teaching is in the lineage of Ven. Pa Auk Sayadaw of Burma, considered by many to be one of the leading meditation masters alive today, and is suitable for both beginners and experienced meditators. There will be instructions, meditation, silence, and periods of teaching and questions. Highlights of recent neuroscience research will also be provided. The day-long retreat will be non-residential, and held on a dana basis. ìåñòî ïðîâåäåíèÿ: at the Multnomah Friends Meeting House, 7:00 PM, 4312 SE Stark, Portland, 97215

Suraj: SIX YOGAS OF NAROPA June 3 -12 2019 Registration now open! The Six Yogas of Naropa are a comprehensive set of tantric completion practices that are widely revered in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. These practices have been passed down through the centuries through a verified lineage in which H. E. Choden Rinpoche was a key figure, and he passed along these and other teachings to Geshe Gyalten Kungka. The yogic adept and scholar of profound teachings, Naropa, compiled the six yogas into a pragmatic set of instructions that have been used by many Buddhist yogis to attain enlightenment in a single lifetime and therefore to be of the utmost service to humanity. This retreat is both theoretical (study) and pragmatic (experiential) and will require a steadfast motivation and intention of the student/practitioner to gain the most from the courses being offered. Again, this is a rare opportunity to receive teachings, practice instructions and answers to profound questions from a lineage holder and practitioner of the Six Yogas of Naropa, Geshe Gyalten Kungka. Through the empowerment blessings of Yamantaka given by Khensur Ripoche, and the kind direction of Geshe Gyalten each student/practitioner will have the opportunity to greatly advance their understanding of the dharma, and their insight into the nature of mind. Prerequisite: Previous highest yoga empowerment (Chakrasamvara, Hevajra, Guhyasamaja, Yamantaka or Kakachakra), or the empowerment given prior to the course offering, Yamantaka by Khensur Rinpoche. Suraj: Teaching on Dzogchen, the "21 Nails", from Shang Shung Nyen Gyud March 29-31st, 2019 10 AM-4:30 PM CA, USA Join us for the second installment of Chaphur Rinpoche’s teaching on the 21 Nails. About the 21 Nails: One of the innermost secret teachings from the Zhang Zhung Nyen Gyud (Aural Transmission of Zhang Zhung). Each of the 21 nails describes an essential point of Dzogchen practice – Directly cutting through doubts about one’s Natural State by tracing the Nature of Mind back to its Source. The teaching of the Twenty-One Nails is a direct expression of Enlightenment – our Natural Mind. Each Nail describes this Natural State from a different point of view. The views are called “Nails” or “Seals” because they stabilize ones experiential understanding of the Natural State. These teachings are said to have come directly from the Primordial Buddha, Küntu Zangpo, who then passed them down by direct mind-to-mind Transmission to eight successive Buddhas. It was then transmitted orally to 24 human Bön Lineage Holders, all of whom were yogis and siddhas who achieved the Rainbow Light Body. In the 7th century Gyerpung Nangzher Lodpo set down the teachings in writing for the first time in the Zhang Zhung language after receiving them from Tapihritsa, the 25th Zhang Zhung Master, during their third and final encounter. This Teaching has been transmitted in an unbroken succession of Lineage Holders down to our Teachers of the present day. LOCATION: 1608 Bonita Road, San Pablo, CA 94806 Lunch will be provided Click here to register and pay your registration fee: ☛Link A few words about this Gyalshen event: As many of you are aware, Gyalshen Institute has invited His Holiness 34th Menri Trizin Rinpoche to give Dzogchen teachings at our summer residential retreat Click Here. For this reason, Chaphur Rinpoche will be giving the second part of the 21 Nails in March as a weekend teaching. This teaching will not replace our summer (non-residential) retreat which will run from August 28th to September 1st on the Heart Drops of Kuntu Zangpo. We will briefly review the nails that were covered in our 2018 summer retreat and then continue through the rest of the text. Previous attendance of Gyalshen’s 2018 summer retreat is NOT required – this retreat is open to anyone who is interested in Dzogchen practice.

Suraj: Geshe Gyalten's June retreat on the Six Yogas of Naropa in San Jose California. https://www.awakeningvajrainternational.org https://www.awakeningvajrainternational.org/events/special-retreats/six-yogas-of-naropa/ What are the Six Yogas The Six Yogas of Naropa are a comprehensive set of tantric completion practices that are widely revered in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. These practices have been passed down through the centuries through a verified lineage in which H. E. Choden Rinpoche was a key figure, and he passed along these and other teachings to Geshe Gyalten Kungka. The yogi adept and scholar of profound teachings, Naropa, compiled the six yogas into a pragmatic set of instructions that have been used by many Buddhist yogis to attain enlightenment in a single lifetime and therefore to be of the utmost service to humanity. It is very rare and a precious opportunity to receive the teaching of one of these yogas, let alone the complete set. In the East, within most traditions, the Six Yogas of Naropa are kept very secret, and most practitioners do not learn them unless they are in a three-year retreat setting. A Comprehensive Overview of the Six Yogas of Naropa is the first year study in a series of courses. In the second, third and fourth years two of the yogas will be studied in more depth culminating in a month-long meditation retreat in the fifth year. It is AVI’s intent, through the guidance of Geshe Gyalten Kungka, to help all attendees deepen their understanding through diligent study, contemplation and practice of these high tantric methods that indivisibly connect great bliss with wisdom resulting in realizing the ultimate nature of one’s mind. A List of the Yogas of Naropa Inner Heat Yoga (tummo) – Generating inner heat is a foundational completion practice. Without a basic understanding of the process of generating inner heat, and the actuality of achieving it a practitioner will not experience some of the signs related to the channels and winds, and recognition of non-dual awareness may not arise. Illusory Body Yoga Clear Light Yoga Dream State Yoga – This yoga involves various practices to utilize the dream state as a means of transformation. Intermediate State Yoga (Bardo) – Within this yoga are the illusory body and dream yoga among other yogic practices. Transference of Consciousness Yoga (Phowa) – For those who during this lifetime are not able to achieve a stable awareness of Clear Light, the Transference of Consciousness at the time of death to a pure Buddhafield is taught.

His birth was accompanied by auspicious signs, blessing the Sakya Dolma Phodrang with the arrival of a second lineage holder of the glorious Sakyapa Khön Tradition. His Eminence was given the Sanskrit name of Gyana Vajra (Tibetan: Yeshe Dorje), a practice that began with the birth of his noble father, His Holiness the 41st Sakya Trichen. At the age of four, he began to read and write in Tibetan, and was remarkably proficient in his learning. Suraj: A TRI DZOCHEN TEACHING His Holiness the 34th Menri Trizin Rinpoche July 27-28, 2019. San Anselmo, CA 94960. For the very first time in California, we will be blessed with a teaching from His Holiness the 34th Menri Trizin Rinpoche. His Holiness has very graciously agreed to give us a teaching on Atri Dzogchen. The visit of His Holiness to the San Francisco Bay Area is part of the first international tour undertaken since his selection as Abbot of Menri Monastery in 2018. The Atri, one of the most important spiritual traditions of Yungdrung Bon, guides the practitioner through fifteen step-by-step sessions to stabilize the realization of the awakened awareness of primordial wisdom. Based on teachings by Meu Ritro Chenpo in the eleventh century, and organized into a succinct practice manual by Drugyalwa Yungdrung in the thirteenth century, the Atri tradition has become one of the three principle traditions of Yungdrung Bon Dzogchen. The Atri system concisely presents an approach to Dzogchen practice that begins with the most basic practices of disciplining the mind, continues with the direct introduction to the natural state, and then explains practices for sustaining the natural state itself. Through sustaining the natural state, one gains confidence that the three enlightened bodies are nothing other than the essence, nature and clarity of one’s own mind. All this is concisely and systematically explained in Atri. Please take this rare opportunity to dive deeply into the Bon spiritual tradition. Click HERE To Register for the teaching This is a non-residential retreat. $170 includes teachings on Saturday 7/27 and Sunday 7/28 from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm plus lunch on both days and the Medicine Buddha Empowerment on Sunday from 3-5pm. Yarphel’s inspiring account of his teacher, the “tong-len geshe”, and the signs of his spiritual attainments here). Ven. She has received extensive teachings and empowerments from many great lamas of all four schools of Tibetan Buddhism throughout her lifetime. Dagyum Kusho is the wife of H.H. Suraj: EVAM Choden Ven. Lama Kunga Rinpoche has kindly agreed to bestow the empowerment of the Two-Armed Red Hayagriva on Sunday, October 27, 2019. The empowerment begins at 1:00 pm. Please arrive early to register at the door. There is a requested donation of $30. (Offering to the Lama is separate.) A practice sadhana will be given, but the empowerment can be taken as a blessing. There is no prerequisite requirement or pre-registration. This empowerment is open to everyone who has taken refuge and follows the Buddhist path. The practice of Hayagriva can eliminate all kinds of external and internal obstacles and problems, particularly those caused by demons and spirits. The empowerment of Hayagriva was originally received by Machik Trupai Gyalmo directly from Hayagriva. She transmitted it to Tipu Sang Nga Dongpo, who transmitted to Rechungpa. Rechungpa gave it to Milarepa who transmitted it to Gampopa and then the lineage was held by the Drigung Kagyu. Eventually it went through the Tsarpa Tradition, and then to the Sakya. From this, to Gelugpa, and all of the Tibetan Buddhist schools. Ewam Choden Tibetan Buddhist Center 254 Cambridge Ave. Kensington, California 94708-1120 US

Suraj: Heart Essence of Dakinis https://gyalshen.org/heart-essence-of-dakinis-2/ SEPTEMBER 5-6 3PM-6:00PM The Bonpo teachings are deep like the ocean, particularly Dzogchen teachings. Many students of Bon are familiar with Dzogchen teachings from male lineage holders and may not be aware of the many female Dzogchen practitioners who have achieved enlightenment. These female enlightened beings are known as Dakini or Khandro. The Dakinis are real-life, female practitioners who have achieved realization of the Mature of Mind through Dzogchen practice here on earth. Dakini or Khandro lineage teachings are rarely taught in the west. Therefore, Chaphur Rinpoche will offer instruction on the Heart Essence of the Thirty Signs and Meanings of the Female Lineage, The Mogyud ( Female lineage), from the Cycle of Essential Instructions of the Male and Female Lineages from the Bonpo Dzogchen teachings. During this teaching, Rinpoche will give specific instructions on how the Dakinis or Khandros practiced and achieved realization of the nature of mind. Rinpoche will teach individual Dzogchen view, meditation, conduction and result (fruit). In addition, Rinpoche will also give instructions on the heart essence of the Khandro Dzogchen lineage practices and realization songs, originating all the way back to Gyalwa Kuntu Zangpo. This retreat is open to students that have any level of familiarity with the Bön teachings. All are warmly invited to attend and to savor the experience of Tsa Lung and Tummo practice with the support of sangha. Please click HERE to register for in person and for Zoom. Lunch will be provided. LOCATION: 1608 BONITA ROAD SAN PABLO, CA 94806

anahata: Susan Pottish is organizing this fundraiser on behalf of Daniel P. Brown. Only recently did Dan send out an email letting us all know that he has Parkinson’s disease. Even though his symptoms were showing in his gait and posture and facial expression for a few years, it took all that time to know for sure because there is no definitive test for it. And it turns out that he also has Lyme disease and extremely high levels of heavy metals in his blood. Then, in addition to all that, there are the side effects now manifesting daily from the medication Dan takes for the Parkinson’s, including almost constant pain that he characterized as feeling like muscles are being “stripped from the bones.” He wrote, “Now at the age of 71, I can't call myself the 'energizer bunny' anymore.” That’s a rather small, if humorous, image for depicting the truly extraordinary level of energy and dedication he has demonstrated for the cause of others for decades. Personally, I think the image of an 18-wheeler roaring across highways is a bit more apt. If you’d like to get a more complete view of Dan’s work over a lifetime, please click the link at the end of this page. https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-dan-go-beyond-parkinson039s
