Suraj: Kagyu Changchub Chuling In late June, Kagyu Changchub Chuling (KCC) is bringing Khenpo Lodro Donyo Rinpoche to Portland, Oregon, for a weekend of teachings. Khenpo Rinpoche was the primary disciple of the late Bokar Rinpoche, and is a principle connection to the roots of the Kagyu lineage. He received the title of Khenpo Rinpoche from HH the 16th Karma. With Rinpoche's joyous outlook, deep meditative experience, and extensive study of the Dharma, this visit will be a rare opportunity to meet with a living example of an individual whose life has been steeped in Dharma practice. Lama Eric Triebelhorn will translate for Khenpo Rinpoche. June 30 - Friday Public Talk, 7:00pm—9:00pm — Why Meditate? Opening the Door to Buddhist Meditation What is Buddhism all about? This overview of the path and the role of meditation will introduce the new and curious and offer clarity and inspiration to those already familiar. July 1 - Saturday All-Day Teaching, 9:00am—4:00pm — The Joy of an Opening Heart True joy arises as we begin to free ourselves from the prison of self-interest and discover our profound connection to what we hold in common with all beings—the fervent wish to be happy and free from the struggles of suffering. Rinpoche will guide us in ways to awaken meaningful connection with others and cultivate our natural capacity for love, compassion and joy, on and off the meditation cushion. July 2 - Sunday Half-Day Teaching, 9:00am—1:00pm — The Natural Wisdom of an Open Heart What is the Buddhist view of the nature of self and reality? And how does this essential wisdom relate to love and compassion? Rinpoche will guide us in ways to contemplate these deep truths and begin to experience them through meditation and in daily life. July 2 - Sunday Empowerment 4:00pm—6:00pm — Chenrezig Empowerment: Meeting the Essence of an Open Heart (Including Refuge Ceremony) Khenpo Rinpoche will offer the Chenrezig empowerment for those who wish to engage in the Vajrayana practice of the great bodhisattva of limitless love and compassion. Preceding the empowerment, Rinpoche will offer the Refuge Ceremony for those who wish to enter the Buddhist path. Refuge is necessary for participating in the empowerment. All events will be held at KCC's new location — 4936 NE Skidmore, Portland, Oregon. KCC incurs considerable expense in bringing Khenpo Rinpoche to Portland, and we ask you to help us cover these costs by making the suggested donation. Your donation of any amount is appreciated, and no one will be turned away for lack of funds. For suggested donation amounts and registration, please go to www.kcc.org.

Suraj: Dzogchen Teaching and Help & Protection from Sipé Gyalmo With Yangton Lama Tashi Gyaltsen Rinpoche August 12-13, 2017 10am-4-30 Advice for Dzogchen Practitioners from Lord Tapihritsa Gyalshen Institute will host Advice for Dzogchen Practitioners from Lord Tapihritsa and Help & Protection from the Queen of Existence, Sipé Gyalmo by the supreme Yangton Lama Tashi Gyaltsen Rinpoche. Among the teachings of Dzogchen, Complete Perfection, the teachings of the Zhang Zhung Nyen Gyü are very unique. They were never hidden as terma during times of persecution and therefore the transmission remains direct and unbroken in descent through living masters. Within this special Dzogchen lineage, there is profound advice directly from a manifestation of Kuntu Zangpo in the form of Tapihristsa. This heart advice of Lord Tapihritsa guides the student directly to the point, introducing them to the natural state of their own mind and liberating their experience. This advice is categorized within: The Four Goodnesses The Five Practices The Four Leavings in the Ultimate Nature The Three Kinds of Confidence By practicing this advice, the practitioner can have the vividly clear experience of abiding in the natural state beyond doubt. From that, this teaching supports the practitioner in developing trust in this abiding nature and gives advice on developing stability in the meditation which leads to the final result, liberation. Help & Protection from the Queen of Existence, Sipé Gyalmo Within the Yungdrung Bön tradition, there are many protectors who offer support and protection. Chief among these protectors is the enlightened deity, Sipé Gyalmo, Queen of Existence. Uniquely, she is both a yidam and a protector. Principal deity within the female lineage, her prayers and offerings are performed daily in Yungdrung Bön Monasteries. She is called upon to remove external, internal and secret obstacles for both practitioners and for the religious tradition. In this way, she protects health, prosperity and spiritual development as well as supports our success in whatever we want to accomplish. During this teaching, Yangton Lama Tashi Rinpoche will introduce us to the protector Sipé Gyalmo and give instructions regarding her prayers and offerings. There will also be a feast offering, tsok, where Sipé Gyalmo and her retinue are invited to bring their blessings and support. By performing the feast offering, we delight the deities and strengthen our own connection and openness towards this enlightened source of support and protection. Yangton Lama Tashi Gyaltsen Rinpoche was born into Yangton lineage in 1954 in the remote region of Dolpo, northwest Nepal. He is the Head Lama of Yanggon Thongdrol Phuntsog Ling Monastery. Lama Tashi is known as an accomplished meditator and scholar. Lama Tashi received his Geshe degree in 1986 graduating from the first class of geshes at Menri Monastery. After receiving his degree, he returned back to his native village. There he constructed Yanggon Thondrol Phuntsok Ling Monastery in 1988. He relocated the temple in 1993, and constructed a prayer-wheel room, kitchen, monk’s residence and treasure room (storeroom), thus reestablishing a perfect environment for the three-year retreat practitioner and practitioners in general. Gyalshen Institute is very honored, fortunate and delighted to host Lama Tashi Rinpoche. Space is limited. An early registration and payment will guarantee your opportunity to receive these precious teachings and blessings. Looking forward to sharing this deep connection to our Bon lineage with you. LOCATION 1608 BONITA ROAD SAN PABLO, CA 94806 Suggested Donation: $135 Lunch will be provided. If you plan to attend this event, please click on this link to rsvp for Registration If you have questions, please email info@gyalshen.org.

Come and draw near for this rare and precious opportunity and take home a beautiful box set of his teachings, freely distributed. Excerpt from Volume 3 - "Direct Realization” "As you begin to recognize intuitive awareness more and more, trust in that. Put it to the test and keep working with it in your daily life. You can develop awareness around a lot of the irritating, frustrating things in your family or profession, or whatever. You might have to live with people who are irritating, coarse or selfish, but you can use that situation for Dhamma. To apply this to the flow of your life is like a challenge. But, as you have insight into it, you begin to trust it. You see it working, and that increases your faith and confidence in it, so that after a while you feel a sense of unshakeability, a mental clarity. The mind is clear and unshakeable rather than rising and falling with emotions or the physical conditions in which you may find yourself.” 1404 SE 25th Ave Portland, OR 97214

The requested donation is $30. Dana (offering) to the Lama and attending monastics is separate. The starting time is 1:00 pm. The Chenresig with Mahamudra practice was composed by Ngorchen Khonchog Lhundrup (1497 – 1557), who was the tenth abbot of Ngor Ewam Choden Monastery. This profound and inspiring text points us to our most compassionate and luminous potential. It has a special connection with Lama Kunga Rinpoche and the Ewam Choden Center since it originated with one of the great lamas of Ngor Monastery. It is a rare opportunity and not to be missed.
